Art is Medicine

ArtisMedicine.com is the art blog of American artist Leslie McCool. Suffering from multiple sclerosis for the past 28 years, McCool has had plenty of time in front of the canvas. She has finally decided to share her large body of work with the world. For McCool, art is truly the best medicine. The Color Patch

I am a french amateur and self-taught artist, with congolese origins and I live in England. After I stopped teaching a few years ago, I decided to spend my time on my favorite hobby and passion: painting. I work with all kind of mediums because I think that the best way to widen your horizons is diversity. I am still in the learning process. Acrylic, soft pastel, watercolor, china ink and watercolor ink, crayons: sanguine, pierre noire, graphite are part of my work. I love ethnic painting and its lively colors. I love the simplicity of african art and what it represents. Simple, yet strong, it carries me in a far away land I love to dream of. Art is a poetic way to express oneself, and it goes through all kind of emotions ; it is the pure expression of a moment ... in time.
