A potential trip to San Francisco

By Ryan McFarland in Projects No Comments »

Here’s the latest email in my exchanges with the contact from the Japanese television show…

Hi Ryan,

The director wants to interview and film your cart bike.
When would it start to snow in your town?
Is it possible to come to San Francisco in the first week of December and build it here?
We will of course cover the travel expenses, but how much shall we give you for the compensation?

Please let me know!
Thank you.

Mieko

Exciting! Not only do I have the potential to have a project on a TV show… but the potential to travel… and even be paid!

Thank you Veterans

A big thank you to all that have served.  And for those lost, let their deaths not be forgotten.

Qualcomm Globalstar GSP-1600 chargers

By Ryan McFarland in Thrift finds 1 Comment »

I popped by a garage sale on Sunday and picked up a few items. I got a Pelican case and inside were two chargers for a Qualcomm Globalstar GSP-1600 satellite phone. There is a wall charger with folding prongs model number CXDTC051 (GSP-1220) and a 12 volt DC charger (for a car cigarette lighter) model number CXCLA0513 (CLA-1600). I saw someone selling the wall charger for $45 on eBay. I’ll sell them for $25 each or $45 for both of them. Shipping included using a flat rate USPS box to anywhere in the US. Both are brand new. Leave a comment here and I’ll email you with payment instructions.

Some of the fliers on telephone poles in Seattle have these “this insults women” stickers on them. Some of the targeted posters seem awfully tame though.

The cart bike continues to be popular in mainstream media

I just got this email about the cart bike.

Hello Ryan,

This is a Japanese TV production in San Francisco.
One of our clients in Tokyo would love to introduce the Cart Bike on a TV show in Japan.
I believe you’re the designer or owner of this publicity. Please let me know if you’re interested in helping us.
Could you provide us some photos or videos to use in the show? It’s highly possible that the producers would like to come and visit you to film this bike and your interview.
This program is to collect variety of amazing/surprising footages, funny stunts, or creative inventions.
Your bike will definitely stand out in the creative invention category.
It will be aired nation wide in as a year end special program of 2 hours on Fuji Television Network.
Of course we will offer compensation for the permission to use the footages of the cart bike, so please take this offer into your consideration.

Please let me know what you think!

Thank you very much, I hope to hear from you soon!

President Obama

Looks like an office will be opening up in the Senate building.  I took this photo in February of 2007.

I’m not jealous of the troubles he has inherited.  A troubled economy, an unwinnable war, and citizens with high hopes.

This year I’m voting democratic

While in Juneau between flights i saw this sticker on an electric transformer.  It seems like this may end up summing up the election today.  I’m watching the news and reloading websites like most people that are interested.
