Bought Chil a bunch of shirts. I’m liking them so much I’m tempted to get Aeropostale shirts for myself as well. Hahaha! But I did by myself something: Artemis Fowl The Time Paradox. Just a shame that there’s no paperback version since all my other Artemis Fowl books are paperback.

Earlier, I made a quick Musha Gundam review. The Musha Gundam has the plate armor minus the pipes in different parts and lot less bulkier. It looks less modern and is closer to the original samurai armor design. The Shin Musha Gundam is a design that looks bulkier and it actually looks meaner than its previous version.
The toy already comes in this form but I felt that it was better to do the Musha Gundam review first before doing the Shin Musha version. Doing the armor change procedure gives me insight on the GFF inner frame design, the upsides and lowsides of the toy itself.

Gotta love the detail on those knees. The pipes give the Shin Musha Gundam a bulkier, more powerful look. It’s like the robot can take hits and still be able to charge forward at full speed. This thing just looks absolutely awesome!

Excellent detail on the knees.

I love the detail on the front armor.

Compared to Musha Gundam, Shin Musha has thrusters on its backpack.

Imagine getting punched by that fist. Your mobile suit will definitely cave in.

Sword drawn.

The stand that comes with the action figure is really nice. Makes for awesome action poses.

Must buy? Definitely!

I received a call from my parents yesterday evening that my grandmother had just passed away. She died in her sleep at around 3 in the morning, Manila time.
Part of me was deeply saddened but at the same time, part of me was happy that she is finally resting, reunited with my beloved grandfather in heaven. Nanay as her grandchildren fondly call her, practically raised most of us when we were still wee ones. Back when she could still remember everyone and when she could still see, she would visit everyone whenever she could. And whenever school was out or we were on holiday, I’d be there up north with her. Nanay took good care of us all. She was an intelligent woman. I believe I got my love for reading from her. As well as the habit re-reading books that I really like.
But now, she’s really gone. She’s finally resting. If I am to be really sad about anything, it would be the fact that I am not there when the rest of the finally bids her their last farewell. Three of us cousins are abroad right now for work and won’t be back in time for the funeral.
I love you, Nanay. Your influence made me the man that I am now. Although you won’t be around to see me have my own family, I’ll make sure that even in heaven, you’ll be proud of me. Till we meet again.

This is how I think the RX-0 Banshee should look like. It’s a mod from a chap from this site. I do have a small nitpick. The pair of small antenna in the middle are too obvious to be coming from the crest/V-fin of a Strike/Freedom/Strike Freedom. Other than that, everything else looks awesome.

It’s snowing outside and I’m up in the middle of the night. But before I fell asleep awhile ago, I manged to shoot and upload some shots of the GFF Musha Gundam. This is the Musha armor. The Shin Musha version pics will be up soon.
Do note that this is my first ever GFF.

While this GFF has lovely detail especially on its samurai armor, I do have a mix of Raves and Gripes. I’ll start with the Raves:
Raves:
- amazing armor detail
- lots of weapons = lots of fun
- it has a samurai sword!
Gripes:
- the shoulder parts pop off…annoyingly often
- some armor parts, especially around the leg area are loose
- the ankles loosen really fast

Look at what I was able to snag in Narita Airport.
Thanks to Danny for the tip. I wish we were stranded overnight in Narita instead of Nagoya. I would have gone to Akiba instead. I’m just quite happy with this purchase plus the fact that it was bought directly from Japan with me picking it off the shelf. That’s a momentous moment for me. Dorky, I know but give me this spot of sunshine for now.

Brand spanking new!

Waiting to be unboxed.

I wish they would sell these kinds of containers in the Philippines. Bought one and drank it up happily just because it's a different aluminum can. I am crazy like that.

Getting ready to be unboxed. Musha-kun being escorted Miku-chan.
More pictures of the unboxing and review coming up in another post.

We got bad news when we arrived at our gate yesterday, November 8. Our flight to Narita which would connect us to our flight to Minnesota from Narita. And what was a bit frustrating was they spent almost five hours just figuring out how they’re going to accomodate us.

Check In area for Northwest Airlines in Nagoya Airport

They booked us to Centraire Hotel. Of course I took pictures. Here's their infamous automated toilet.

Sink.

Tub and shower area. Japanese commonly take their shower sitting down. Tried it out and it was pretty neat too.

Desk.

Bed. I was so tired, I just tossed all my stuff everywhere.

Shopping and food area on the fourth floor of Nagoya Airport. There were a lot of gift items. No otaku stuff, sadly.

Food compliments of NWA as apologies for the delay. I went to Starbuck and bought what I always get there: venti vanilla frappe.

Cinnamon roll. Not as good as the one sold in the Philippines, in my opinion.

Gate view from the Sky Deck.

Sky Deck as the evening crawls in.

Another view from the Sky Deck.

View of Nagoya Airport from my hotel window.

My partner loves Stitch. Tons of Stitch stuff in some toy stores there. Maybe on my flight back home, I will grab some more for her. ^_^

Mikatan recently put up Goodsmile’s latest product that will start hitting otaku store shelves very soon: Goodsmile Racing. Danny-sama explains the product’s existence briefly:
Good Smile have set up a new brand of products called Good Smile Racing which will initially be a series of miniature car stickers - one of the main reasons that they set this line up is because the boss Aki-san lurves cars - he’s got quite a few - so now you know what he spends your money on ^^;
So they’re decal sets for your miniature car collection. I love cars. I love Miku Hatsune merchandise as well. My pockets go ohnoes D:! If I do end up getting a couple of sheets, odds are, some of them would end up being stuck onto my Sony Ericsson W960.
I wonder if HLJ has these up for preorder already…
On another note, I’ll be heading for Chanhassen MN this weekend for a three week business trip there. My company sent me and two others for some training and I’ll be involved with some business meetings regarding my team.
When you fly Northwest Airlines from Manila, you’re bound to stop over at Narita Airport. Sadly, my stop does not allow me enough time to go to Akiba and do some serious otaku shopping. So near yet so far, neh? So I was wondering if anyone here is familiar with Narita Airport and if you know if there are any small shops that sell toys there and if I still need to convert to yen or if they can already sell in US dollar. Also, are there any hobby stores that sell Japanese otaku merchandise in Mall of America?

Lots of fellow bloggers switch parts around. I think this is my favorite switch not just because the colors match but that she really does look good, hot even, this way, and I’m happy with it.

Somehow, that cupsize fits her.
Of course, we need to see how she looks like as a whole, right?

Now does she not look hot or what? And who wants a pleated skirt when she can wear a leather belt and a scarf instead?

Finally got around to shooting my Figma Miku Hatsune. A whole barrage of photos coming up! Well, not that much. ^_^;

This is the first ever Figma that I purchased. So now, the first Nendoroid I ever owned is a Miku Hatsune Nendoroid. Same goes with the Figma. My first figurine will be a Miku, perhaps? Possibly.
Part of my fascination with Miku was influenced by Coffeebugg and part of my desire to purchase GSC merchandise was influenced by Danny Choo.

Nendoroid Miku thinks Figma Miku phails in singing.
Of course, with every toy/action figure, there are raves and there are gripes. Here are my raves and gripes about the Figma Miku Hatsune:
Raves:
- Awesome paint quality. The Figma Miku looks far better in quality than most Figma releases even to date. I just love the gloss effect on the outfit and the paint on the small details are really well done.
- Articulation is just superb. Especially compared to a Revoltech Fraulein.
- The quality of the joints is just wonderfuly. Although Figma joints are prone to loosening over time after multiply posing unlike the Revolver joints, the size and how well they are hidden from view is very much appreciated.
- Removable part of the skirt is nice. ^_^;
- Did I say I love the detail?
Gripes:
- Standing up, Miku looks like she’s always thrusting her crotch towards you. Very unwomanly.
- Because of the hair near the nape, it prevents Miku’s head from looking upwards.
- So with the head-you-can’t-bend-backwards and the unwomanly-thrusting-crotch, Miku looks like she’s suffering from scoliosis sometimes.
- For my particular unit, the left knee Figma joint appears to loosen faster than the rest of the other joints.
- Figma interchangeable hands have built-in joints as well. But because of Miku’s costume, the wrist movement is very limited. It appears they didn’t look into this too much.
But overall, I am very happy with this acquisition and rest assured that Miku is going to accompany me in a lot of journeys, the closest being my upcoming trip to Minnesota.
Here’s the rest of the gallery:
