Mother Earth's Wild Flowers Garden - Uppland

Tyra wrote this post at the blog Tyra’s Garden http://waxholm.blogspot.com. If you are not reading it at Tyra’s Garden, then this content was stolen without permission.

Mother Earth's Garden - Uppland

I'm up at my 'summerhouse' again to make the house ready for the winter. There are a lot of things that need to be attended to, empty the water butts (?) storing all the garden furniture etc. As I was looking at some pictures last night I found these wild flower pictures taken on a walk in May this year at the Bondskärets Naturresevat. This protected area has a great flora and fauna as well as very interesting geological features. This nature reserve Bondskäret is just a few K from here and just by the sea. Meadow flowers at Bondskär Dactylorhiza sambucina. not latifolia as it says on the photo (an old name) , I don't know the english name for it, we call it Adam & Eva. Its an orchid and all the orchids in Sweden are protected species accordingly it is prohibited to pick, dig up or in other ways harm the orchids.

This is the pretty Spring Pea Lathyrus vernus - Vårärt

Meadows and Woodland at the Nature Reserve - Ängskär - Bondskär

Cowslip - Primula veris L. - Gullviva

And at last but not least a favorite the wonderful fragrant Lily-of-the-valley Convallaria majalis L. -Liljekonvalj

The sun came out for a second....

Today, I'm still sad, angry and disapointed and its all that SCOUNDRAL fault that I wrote about yesterday.

But then the 'sun came out' to brighten my grey and miserable November day, a friend came along an told me that there was an article in one of the largest papers in Sweden (DN) about garden bloggers. We have great many garden bloggers here and two of my blogs where mentioned as a blogg well worth a visit, thank you! :-)

Calluna vulgaris & Norrpada Achipelago

Calluna vulgaris & the beautiful Archipelago of Norrpada

Missy M on the rocks

Heather Calluna vulgaris

Heather is very common out on our beautiful islands in the Stockholm archipelago. Here I want to show a couple of pictures from an island in Norrpada Archipelago that I really like. Sometimes I visualize that Mother Nature has made all this by herself, well perhaps not entirely by herself possibly with some help from a friend, such a fabulous garden.

For medical use Calluna vulgaris is slightly diuretic, take 2 teaspoons per cup as an infusion to drink between meals 2-3 times a day.

....
Ljung Calluna vulgaris

Ljung är vanligt förekommande ute på våra vackra öar I Stockholm skärgård. Här vill jag visa ett par bilder utifrån några öar som jag verkligen gillar. Tänk vad naturen har gjort alldeles själv gjort en sagolik trädgård.

...
The garden of Mother Earth - astonishing isn't it?

A poem from a Nobel Prize winner

Heather by E.A. Karlfeldt.

Ljung

Ljung du fagra på hedar magra,
min bästa blomma i barndomsår!
Än får jag bida
i drömmar frida
hos dig en soldag då sunnan går.

Här badar hyddor
i doft av kryddor
från gröna enar och timjan röd,
och vinden bjuder
en dryck som sjuder
av slättens hälsa och sommarns glöd.

Hit skall hon följa
- när vindar bölja
en soldag - hon som jag fjärran fann.
Här skall jag fråga,
om med min låga
mitt sköna hedland hon älska kan.

Och in i kransen
hon bär i dansen
en kväll vars lycka jag anar blott
skall ljung jag fläta,
att ej förgäta
hon må min börd och min barndomslott.

A GARDENERS WRAP

A Gardeners Gift Wrap

To wrap a present is so fun, I really do enjoy it and this time I wanted to do something different, I went for a stroll in the garden and ended up with this. I just adores the seed capsules of the Papaver, I think they are most fascinating, each one is a small work of art. They are so beautiful therefore I started out with the Papaver then...

...

POP ART

...added a fig (picked from the fridge), some lovely green Ivy, two Cynara cardunculus and then the beautiful blueish green fragant sage. I was rather satisfied with the result if I may say, you could certainly see that it was from the a gardener :-)

Happy birthday to Lena my dear sister in law!
